Penny Postcards were quite popular during the latter part of the 1880’s and the first part of the 1900’s. Often times these postcards were an inexpensive means of communication between family members who lived several states away from one another, particularly during the Great Depression. As a child, I spent many happy hours looking at all the postcards which had been sent to my great-grandmother and grandmother. Other postcards were ones that they had made up from their own photographs.
